Justine Richardson is an emerging artist from Deer Island, New Brunswick, whose soulful, roots rock-infused acoustic music weaves together themes of personal and social justice, self-discovery, and resilience. With a rich voice that blends raw emotion and honesty, Justine has quickly become a recognizable force in the New Brunswick music scene.
Since her first performance at the age of seven, with her father accompanying her on guitar, Justine’s musical journey has been deeply personal. She started playing guitar as a teenager, honing her skills through school functions, community events, and, most importantly, by sitting in a circle with her father and his friends, playing along during their very frequent music nights. Her music is a reflection of her life experiences, touching on everything from the exploitative system created by the rich and powerful to personal topics like love, confidence, and mental health struggles.
Justine’s debut single, Independence, has resonated deeply with listeners, drawing attention for its powerful message and heartfelt delivery. In 2023, she took a leap of faith, leaving her full-time job after her music began to pick up steam, allowing her to fully dedicate herself to her artistry. Since then, she has been honing her craft and preparing for new releases, with plans for fresh material in 2025.
Her performances have graced the stages of festivals such as Paddlefest, Living Roots Fest, Fogfest, and Patiofest, where her presence is known for being both welcoming and empowering. In a world that can be less than kind towards those who are different for one reason or another, Justine strives to create a safe space for her audience. Especially for women, minorities, neurodiverse people, and other marginalized groups.
As she continues to evolve as an artist, Justine remains deeply committed to using her platform to uplift others and spark meaningful conversations. Her work is more than just music—it's a movement toward a more inclusive, compassionate world where everyone has a voice.
